Description:
Drappier’s Carte d’Or Demi-sec Champagne has all the aroma of the Pinot Noir quality grape-variety, which in fact makes up at least 80% of the blend. This is a black grape with white juice and is highly prized not only for its structure but also for the subtle notes of red fruits which characterise it.
The natural colour of the cuvée is rich gold. The palate is dominated by ripe fruits: peach, apricot and red fruits. The higher dosage gives a richness and slight sweetness which is balanced by the natural freshness and acidity. Lovely as accompaniment to berry desserts , patés or spicy dishes.
Ratings:
“Medium dry rich biscuity fruits, fine bead and a nice balancing acidity.” Everywine.co.uk.
“Nice texture on the palate, certainly better than some of the wines that followed. Good minerality and some decent structure. One of the more palatable demi-secs here.” Champagne Information Bureau Tasting 2006.
